Research and Planning Blog

 Hey Media Study Crew! I have began to start researching and forming my commercial about my self.  Before picking out the pictures, videos, and more I first thought about which ones I wanted to choose to best represent myself. After thinking about this, I then thought about where I wanted to find these from. Some of the options I can use these videos and pictures from are places like my photos, tiktok, instagram and more. All of these are apps that I use consistently on my phone which is where i store things that would best represent me. I also had to take into consideration on what type of pictures I wanted to use. This can include baby pictures or pictures from middle school, current ones, ones from trips, the options continued. I tried to make my media selection as diverse as possible by selecting one from each section of my life.  I believe by doing this it would best introduce myself into one commercial using a limited amount of media. 

I began to scroll through my albums on my phone and wow did it take a while to go through it all. Even though it was time consuming, I found a few hidden gems that I was looking for. I found this picture of younger me in New York looking like I am holding a city in my hands. This fits the traveling aspect of my pictures that I wanted to obtain. I also found some photos of me in different places truly being myself doing what I like to do. I additionally found some adorable baby pictures that I didn't even know I had in my camera roll. After selecting all of my pictures I wanted I moved onto the mission of finding videos. I ended up selecting a few videos of me with my friends, family and by myself doing different things. These videos are filmed in all different places like outside, in my house, at school, etc. I feel like this will complete my commercial by showing a variety of aspects of my life, truly showing who I am and what I like. 

When it came to the song selection it was also a struggle to choose the right two. This was difficult for a plethora of reasoning. One of the reasoning to this is because this is considered a school project. In all honestly because of the scenario of this assignment being for school, it narrowed down the options because me along with others my age listen to some songs that are inappropriate for school. Although this did narrow the options, not all of the songs that I listen to are explicit. Next, I had to think about which two songs truly would represent me. This was a little bit of a struggle because my playlist is over 21 hours of musing, therefore there are a lot of options. At the end of this, I died it down to around a few different songs in 2 different genres. These genres that I decided to display in my commercial on were r&b and rap. I feel like these two genres are different from each other and would allow my to better show different sides of me. The r&b represents the more calm side of me and family oriented self. On the other hand the rap represents me when I am more social, at hangouts, with my friends etc. 

Overall, the process of picking out my photos, videos, and songs was slightly challenging,  I have completed it and will move onto the production part of my commercial. This blog has officially came to an end and I would like to thank you guys for tuning into my blog, peace out media studies crew!
